Drifting Through the Void is like Zen for metal fans. Tantalizing melodies ooze from Svarti Loghin and Limpan’s guitars while Emil’s drums keep up steady beats. It isn’t slow, but rather a good, steady pace. This is best demonstrated in the songs "Odelagd Framtid" and "Stargazer." They are very lengthy songs but effortlessly suck you into wanting to hear every note. Happy tunes of the keyboard combined with depressing vocals add spice to the low key album in the song "Drifting Through the Void."

Svarti Loghin does not have a typical metal sound. The music is sort of numbing and puts you into a trance. It’s the kind of metal that a person could meditate to, just because it’s so melodic. Drifting Through the Void is a perfect name for the band’s third album because it is exactly the feeling a person gets when they listen to it.

Svarti Loghin’s sound is totally unique, but this album isn’t. It has some similarities to songs of previous albums, however, overall the band still managed to make this one something new and intriguing. I didn’t know that metal could be this subdued. Although the band has a less intense sound it hasn’t lost its sense of metal culture. Drifting Through the Void is an engaging and extraordinary album jammed full of good and relaxing tunes.  [ END ]
