Wisconsin based record label and management firm Amble Down, (Bon Iver, The Daredevil Christopher Wright) released the debut album from We Are The Willows today, entitled 'A Collection of Sounds And Something Like The Plague'. The solo-project of singer/songwriter Peter Miller, We Are The Willows will continue touring the Great Lake States in support of the album through December. Additionally, Miller and a few local Minneapolis artists created a "musical map" to augment the ten track album, visually weaving together the many city sounds that Miller captured while recording A Collection in and around Minneapolis.

Recorded in a basement and all over the city of Minneapolis (where Miller currently lives) with nothing more than a laptop and a couple of microphones, 'A Collection of Sounds And Something Like The Plague' is directly constructed from and inspired by the noise of one's surroundings. Miller captured sounds like the brakes on a train, conversations at a local cafe and stones being thrown into a creek and incorporated them into the songs of A Collection, literally documenting one man's human experience with sounds from everyday life.

Having musically captured the city, Miller and friends visualized the concept with a hand-drawn map of Minneapolis that weaves together each of the locations where A Collection was recorded, painting a picture of Minneapolis' (and Miller's personal) sonic landscape.

We Are The Willows' debut full-length, 'A Collection of Sounds And Something Like The Plague', documents the last two years of Miller's post-college life spent teaching pre-school, trying to make sense of his fleeting relationships, and ultimately attempting to put life and happiness into simple and personal perspectives. The album's ten tracks are folk songs set to a pop formula with Miller playing every instrument and singing in his highly recognizable countertenor range.
