One of the biggest groundswell stories in Canadian music continues with the announcement this week that 'Old Crows / Young Cardinals', the 4th album from Alexisonfire, has debuted at #2 on the Top 200 Soundscan Chart. The band sold an impressive 15,476 copies in their first week, coming in just behind the Black Eyed Peas by less than 1500 units. This is the 4th Gold Record certification nod for the quintet in Canada.

South of the border, Alexisonfire have come back from 2006’s breakout album Crisis with their highest single sales week ever in the U.S. 'Old Crows / Young Cardinals' debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart this week at #81 and #9 on the independent album chart, selling over 5,700 copies – an increase of 35% from first week sales of Crisis. As for other international territories, the album debuted at an impressive #17 in Australia, AOF’s highest debut in that territory to date. In the UK where Alexisonfire recently inked a deal with Roadrunner Records, 'Old Crows / Young Cardinals' charted at #70 with first week sales up 17% from Crisis.

Alexisonfire is currently touring the U.S with the 2009 Vans Warped Tour joining NOFX, 3Oh!3, Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, TSOL, Underoath and many more on the annual punk rock extravaganza which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. The band was also recently added to the Toronto stop on July 10. Post Warped, Alexisonfire are confirmed to play both the main stage and Lock Up stages of both the Reading and Leeds U.K. festivals (with two sets per day) performing alongside Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs and Placebo, to name a few.
